The document confirming the authorship of the Russian company “SPA BioMicroGel” came into force in the country. The patent has been published in the database.

The developed product is based on the ideas from pharmaceutics, where special reagents are used to place a medicinal product in a submicron shell. When the product is delivered to the required organ, the shell dissolves completely. Such reagents change from liquid state to gel-like state and back, depending on the environmental conditions, and are called microgels. Microgels produced by the Russian company cover the pollution (for example, oil droplets) with a polymer film, by forming microcapsules, and then quickly adhere to each other. This results in formation of a jelly-like mass which is easily separated from water. Raw materials for this group of substances are natural products: pectin from apple pomace/sunflower flower heads, and cellulose. While the scientists were studying the reagent properties, they found that biomicrogels can be efficiently used not only in industrial projects but also in the production of household detergents.

SPA BioMicroGel was established in 2012.The company has developed and patented biomicrogels, a unique group of substances based on natural components. SPA BioMicroGel is a graduate of the GenerationS accelerator of the Russian Venture Company (RVC), a resident of the University TechnoPark (Ekaterinburg) and a resident of Skolkovo (Moscow). In 2015, biomicrogels were recognized by Rospatent as one of the top 100 Russian new products. In 2017, the company was listed among the country's top three startups as part of the Startup Village competition. The process of consideration of the application in the national phase in the PRC continued from the end of 2014. Now the process of authorship approval continues in the EU countries, Canada and India.
