The track will combine projects in the field of biomedicine. Applications are accepted from teams involved in the development of new drugs, diagnostic systems, medical devices, evidence-based medicine, as well as M-Health-technologies related to the monitoring of human health.

This year, special attention will be given to projects related to the development of medical products to treat diseases of the central nervous system and improve cognitive abilities and in the field of Neuro technology and the use of a Brain—computer interface, including for mass consumers.

The Lifescience track to be launched this year is unique for its being organized at the site of Northern BioPharmCluster and the Center of Living Systems of the Moscow Physical-Technical Institute (TSZHS MIPT) where the full cycle of transformation of scientific, applied, and experimental developments is introduced in the manufacture of finished products with their further commercialization.

PROGRAM

The Lifescience track to be launched this year is unique for its being organized at the site of Northern BioPharmCluster and the Center of Living Systems of the Moscow Physical-Technical Institute (MIPT) where the full cycle of transformation of scientific, applied, and experimental developments is introduced in the manufacture of finished products with their further commercialization.

Northern Biopharmaceutical Cluster is an association of leading enterprises of the Russian pharmaceutical, biotechnology and medical industries, research institutes and medical institutions, small innovative companies and start-ups based on the MIPT. Northern BioPharmCluster was created in 2010 as part of the «Pharma 2020» strategy. In 2012, Northern BioPharmCluster became a part of the innovation cluster «Fiztech XXI», included in the list of pilot innovation clusters, approved by the Russian Government. The Cluster’s activity is supported by the Ministry of Industry and Trade of the Russian Federation, the Moscow Region Government, and the Administration of Khimki and Dolgoprudny. Today, the Cluster consists of more than thirty organizations of the pharmaceutical and medical industries, such as GC Protek, Akrikhin, JSC, CHT KhimRar, FSC Farmzaschita, Geropharm, LLC , Altonika, LLC, NEIROKOM, JSC as well as universities and scientific and clinical centers: Medical University First MGMU named after I.M. Sechenov of the Russian Ministry of Health, FSBSI Scientific Center of Neurology, FSBI Scientific Center for Obstetrics, Gynecology and Perinatology named after Academician V.I. Kulakov of the Russian Ministry of Health and many others.

The center of living systems MIPT (TSZHS MIPT) is a subdivision of Moscow Institute of Physics and Technology (MIPT) and is responsible for the development of the life sciences direction. MIPT is a unique Russian Research and Educational Complex. Since 2014, MIPT has been operating more than 20 innovative laboratories with modern equipment for the chemical and biotechnology research. In association with leading institutions of the Russian Academy of Sciences and Clinical Center, MIPT conducts research at the intersection of natural and exact sciences: physics, mathematics, chemistry and biology. The result is a generation of the flow of innovative interdisciplinary projects in living systems: innovative pharmaceuticals, genomic technologies, bioinformatics, medical instrument engineering, and agricultural biotechnology.

The Lifescience track program includes an educational module, consisting of seminars and lectures in the main areas of business planning and technology entrepreneurship, workshops of executives of leading companies in the pharmaceutical and medical industry, representatives of regulatory authorities, contract research organizations, as well as successful entrepreneurs managing start-ups. The program includes project sessions with venture investors, individual consultations from mentors and experts. Visiting profile production sites, laboratories and infrastructure of partners. The teams-participants of the Acceleration Program will be given the opportunity to communicate directly with the seed venture fund in the area of living systems with the prospect of investments for the development of their projects.
