Yekaterinburg to Host the Final Industrial Track Educational Weekend

Yekaterinburg to Host the Final Industrial Track Educational Weekend

Project teams selected from 508 Industrial Track applications in a multi-level evaluation by Russian technology and business experts will participate in the program. The goal of pre-acceleration is to give as many project teams as possible the opportunity to attend technology entrepreneurship training sessions, and enable the experts to pick 40 teams which will participate in the GenerationS Industrial acceleration program, which the Track operator Pulsar Venture Capital will hold in September.

Day One of the intensive educational program will focus on innovation management: participants will formulate their own strategy, develop a business plan for their project, and learn to analyze alternative solutions. Speakers will tell the participants about the pitfalls of technology and intellectual property commercialization.

On Day Two, the participants will be introduced to elements of financial management. Startyo entrepreneurs will learn how to build a financial model, how to do market valuation of their company, and what they are going to need. In addition, on Saturday, they will practice public presentation before the expert panel. A mentor will coach the participants before the pitch session the art of strong presence and delivery, teach them to structure their presentation and engage the investors in just four minutes.

The participants’ pitch session will take up all of Day Three. They will present their projects to a panel of investors, businessmen and invited experts. The participants from 14 cities will present their projects both in person, in front of the expert panel, and remotely, in videoconference mode. The expert panel will assign grades to project teams based on the final pre-acceleration weekend, and contest organizers will announce the results of all three regional pre-acceleration rounds.

After completing the acceleration program, 10-15 projects will reach the GenerationS Final in October at Open Innovation, a Moscow International Forum, where the best project teams from all four sector tracks will present their projects to Russian and international investors, competing for a RUB 5 million cash prize and other prizes from contest partners.

The Educational Weekend will take place at the Urals Federal University (UrFU). The opening ceremony and training sessions on August 22 – 23 will be held at the Academic Council Audience (19 Mira Street), moving to the UrFU Press Center (at 51 Lenin Street) for the pitch session on the final day.
