TSE Announces Acceleration Program Semifinalists
Experts will interview 80 biotech and medical project teams to select those who will go on for the GnerationS BiotechMed training program in September. The contest’s BiotechMed Track began taking applications in April, ultimately accepting applications from 323 project teams from Russia and overseas wishing to fight for investors’ attention and the RUB 5 million in prize money.
The applications were evaluated by the Russian Startup Rating system. And now BioTechMed expert panel will have to evaluate the 80 semifinalists to select the most interesting and promising ideas.
“Our pool of experts includes practicing businesspeople and BioTechMed experts who will interview each of the 80 project teams to evaluate the technology aspects of their projects, as well as deciding how promising and feasible their ideas are,” said Olga Babkina, Deputy Vice-President of the Tomsk State University for Science. “In-person and remote interviews in ElevatorPitch format will take place in two locations: at the TSU Business Incubator in Tomsk on August 20 and 21, and at API Moscow Krasny Oktyabr on August 25–26. Moreover, we have organized, in cooperation with the Russian Venture Company, lectures and master classes on business model development, business planning, marketing and intellectual property for the participants as part of the ElevatorPitch program.”
Expert evaluation will help to short-list the best 40 projects. The teams associated with these projects will be invited to Tomsk to join the BioTechMed high-intensity acceleration training program.
The acceleration contest’s Demo Day will take place on September 23 as part of the Pharmaceuticals and Medical Devices international forum in Tomsk. It will help to identify the 10 winning projects who will go on to participate in the GenerationS Final at the Open Innovation Forum in Moscow on October 15, where they will present their projects to leading Russian and international investors.
