80 Projects Still in the Running in GenerationS Accelerator Contest

The GenerationS Web Ready board of experts has evaluated 725 applications, selecting the most interesting and relevant from the pool. The evaluation was performed in several rounds: first remotely, through the Russian Startup Rating system, and then on-site in meetings in St. Petersburg and Moscow. More than 50 Internet sector experts were involved in the selection process.

As many as 80 projects were chosen to participate in the acceleration program and continue the competition for the top spot in the Web Ready contest, in two key categories:

• Seed — for just-launched projects
• Startup — for projects in the monetization stage.

In addition, the expert panel picked the winners in the Growth category intended for the most mature projects which have already become success stories.

The acceleration program will last for nearly three months and will focus primarily on expanding networking opportunities and contacts with prospective partners and investors for projects, as well as on accelerating the growth of each participant project on all key metrics.

The GenerationS IT Track acceleration program, designed in cooperation with the Foundation for Development of Internet Initiatives (FDII) will be launched on July 12–14, 2014. The first three days will focus on business models, project economics and key metrics, PR, marketing and product strategies. In addition to this early high-intensity program, the accelerator includes Weekend Activities mentor sessions, regular ongoing work together with trackers and mentors, a presentation in front of industry experts and investors on Demo Days. The best projects will be selected for the GenerationS IT Track semifinals – the Web Ready contest final.

The program final will take place at the Skolkovo Hypercube on October 8, 2014 in the format of an investment forum. During the event, participants will be able to benefit from the VC Corner – a place where project team can meet investors, a mentor session, a project “trade show” and project pitches, a round-table discussion with winners in the Growth category and an awards ceremony. The final is expected to have 700 guests, including more than 100 investors and business angels.

The winners will receive a coaching session with serial entrepreneurs at the Krasny Oktyabr API Moscow on October 10 through 13, 2014, and after making it into the general GenerationS finals open to the top projects in all three Tracks, will present their projects to investors at the Open Investments Forum on October 15. Web Ready offers RUB 1.5 million in prize money, with another RUB 5 million as GenerationS prize money.
