The first private hardware technology park of Kazan, Navigator Campus, has partnered with the BioTechMed Track of the GenerationS nationwide accelerator contest for technology startups. The contest also receives support from the Tomsk State University (TSU). Technology Park Chief Executive Vasil Zakiev has said that engaging local Kazan-based startups in the accelerator contest is very important for developing the regional innovative ecosystem.
Oleg Malsagov, Director of the TSU Innovation Technology Business Incubator said that partnership with the Navigator Campus is another clear sign of BioTechMed acceleration program effectiveness.
“During our trips to other regions, we not only present our program, but also make an effort to find common ground, we try to get startups involved with GenerationS as much as possible, as well as creating interest from industry experts and prospective partners,” Malsagov says. “I believe this kind of work will help us to establish efficient interaction between different regions.”
Vasil Zakiev said that the Navigator Campus and the Tomsk State University will collaborate primarily in their efforts to get startups of Kazan involved in the BioTechMed project, which is important for developing the region’s innovation ecosystem and raising the interest of startups in developing their projects in Russia.
“We hope that our support will help the BioTechMed accelerator to attract more projects from Kazan,” Zakiev said. “We believe that our participation will help to address the main issue biotech and healthcare projects are facing: weak confidence in the possibility and feasibility of implementing these projects in Russia. IT projects, for example, no longer have this kind of confidence, and we don’t want to see a similar trend (towards loss of confidence) in other sectors. The GenerationS contest, a nationwide initiative, helps to address this problem by involving many new active participants – both startups and investors – in the innovation ecosystem. We are happy to be part of this.”
