LEGO EDUCATION and BITRONICS LAB will sign a cooperation agreement for the creation of educational programs in the field of neurotechnology and biosignals

On April 13, LEGO Education and BiTronics Lab will sign a cooperation agreement on creation of educational solutions in the bioneurotechnology field at the Moscow International Salon of Education. BiTronics Lab is represented by the Company's CEO Timur Bergaliev, LEGO Education by the Director of educational programs LEGO Education in Russia and the CIS Olga Lombas.

A radiotechnical kit in the field of bioneurosignals BiTronics Lab is one of the priority projects of the "Neuronet" branch association and a finalist for the Robotics track of the GenerationS Federal Accelerator. Investors of the project are the Moscow Technological Institute and KSI Ventures LLC.

The LEGO Education Mindstorms EV3 robotic system offers a wide range of opportunities for deep immersion in the field of neurotechnology, biosignals and big data that is of great interest to students.

The purpose of the company's project is to introduce engineering educational programs in schools and supplementary education centres in the subject areas of neurotechnology, human-machine interfaces, portable devices. Under the programme, school children will learn how to obtain, process and visualize human biosignals and how to use it in the future when developing their own projects.

The LEGO Mindstorms EV3 and BiTronics Lab learning kit will enable the students to develop the skills of technical creativity and design skills. The BiTronics Lab kit consists of electromyogram / electrocardiogram (EMG / ECG) sensors, electroencephalogram (EEG) sensors, photoplethysmography (pulse sensor) and galvanic skin response (skin surface resistance, GSR) sensors, as well as special adapter modules to connect to the LEGO Mindstorms EV3 kit.

Robotic neuro laboratory for children includes:

  • The basic design course LEGO Education which allows to create your own robots and control them
  • Studying theoretical basics of primary human biosignals, their visualization in the LEGO Mindstorms EV3: pupils will see the electrical signals from their muscles, brain, and will master the operating principle of the polygraph
  • Practical use of biosignals: the kit vividly uses EMG and EEG signals to control automatic platforms and LEGO robots

BiTronics Lab has been developed and is continuously being improved by the students and graduates of MIPT (Moscow Institute of Physics and Technology). This is the world's first hardware and software platform to explore and create prototypes in the field of human bioneurosignals. This platform helps to measure pulse rate, take an electrocardiogram, record an electroencephalogram of the brain and much more. While processing this data, the platform allows to control gadgets with the power of thought or movement of the hand. Pilot versions developed by BiTronics Lab designers are tested at Physical-Technical Lyceum named after P.L. Kapitsain at MIPT in classrooms of the first clubs of young neuro model makers in Russia.
