Over 1000 start-ups from all over Russia have entered GenerationS contest, a federal accelerator of technology start-ups, organized by RVC. Being the largest accelerator in Russia and Eastern Europe, GenerationS 2016 plans to consider as many as 3,000 projects. The closing date for filing the application for participation in GenerationS is October 15.
At the moment, the potential GenerationS-2016 participants include projects from more than 70 Russian cities. Most of the applications came from Irkutsk (200 applications), Tomsk (129) and Ufa (100). The top 5 cities also include Grozny (92) and Astrakhan (47).
The most interesting track of all industrial directions was Creative Industries, aimed at finding solutions in the area of new media, urban spaces, fashion and design. AgroBioTech&Food is on the second place in regards to number of applications, TechNet is on the third position.
Currently, 78% of GenerationS participants are represented by the projects of pre-seed and seed stages. The rest 22% are mature projects on the prototype stage, developing and growing. Most of the participants completed RSPC courses (regional sessions of practical consulting), acceleration programs or finished regional start-up schools.

To reinforce regional technological entrepreneurship, RVC supports local programs aimed at promoting regional start-ups and conducts company-created free intensive RSPC courses. Every year we observe results of this work when we accept applications for GenerationS, says Gulnara Bikkulova, Deputy General Director – RCV Development Director – GenerationS ideologist. – Generally, taking into account current dynamics, we expect to attract not less than 3000 projects by the end of the applications receipt period. By renewing acceleration tracks line, we were able to cover the entire layer of new industries and start-ups that haven't participated in such events previously", – RVC Deputy General Manager summarized.
GenerationS-2016 was officially launched in July 2016 and is to be held in eight corporate tracks: Mining&Metals, AgroBioTech&Food, SmartCity, Сreative Industries, LifeScience, TechNet, Power&Еnergy, Finance&Banking Technologies. The corporate partners to GenerationS are Moscow Exchange, the Morton Group of Companies and Russian Technical Company, QIWI, Northern Biopharmaceutical Cluster, Krastsvetmet JSC, the EFCO Group of Companies, Company Sher Oston, Irkutsk Electric Grid Company, R&D Saturn.
The global partner of the GenerationS-2016 is Vilnius Tech Park (Lithuania), which will provide its assistance to the accelerator participants in bringing the projects to international markets. Development Partner – the Fund to promote innovation – allocates grants to the best projects of the GenerationS under the EGGHEAD and START programs.
Other GenerationS-2016 partners include: Open University Skolkovo (OtUs), GC AMEDIA, ALROSA, Rostelecom PJSC.
GenerationS superfinal will be held in March 2017. The winners will share the prize fund of 15,000,000 roubles and also receive prizes from the accelerator partners, Besides, they will be offered the opportunity to continue cooperating with corporate partners or get funding towards developing and refining the final product.
