"SPA BioMicroGel" Yekaterinburg startup allocated 25 million rubles for expansion of production

Manufacturers of innovation cleaning agents, graduates from the GenerationS accelerator arranged by RVC and residents of Skolkovo fund, «SPA BioMicroGel» from Yekaterinburg invested 25 million rubles in expansion of production including building of a new plant in 2016.

As of the end of December 2016, the company expands its supply geography by 10-20 new sales points per week. Following the results of the year, cleaning agents of the Ural production are sold in seven cities in Ural, Siberia and Central Russia: in April, the products appeared on the selves of Yekaterinburg stores for the first time, in October — in Tomsk and Seversk, in November — in Chelyabinsk, and in December — in Moscow, Voronezh and Beryozovskiy. Household cleaning products from Yekaterinburg are all together sold in almost 200 retail outlets and online stores. During the first six months, it was all about neighbourhood stores specialising on cosmetics and household chemicals, as well as eco-product stores, but during the following six months, medium and big regional retail chains, in particular, 11 hypermarkets of «Kirovskiy», «Golden Apple» and «Hyperbola» retail chains, etc. joined sale of new products.

Growth in number of deliveries and contracts caused the need to expand the production. New equipment for total amount of more than 15 million rubles was purchased. Almost one third of the sum, 4 millions, was the aid grant to the technopark residents to indemnify expenses related to manufacturing and sale of innovation products granted by the Ministry of industry and science of Sverdlovsk Oblast within a framework of the state program «Development of industry and science in the territory of Sverdlovsk Oblast». Jointly, investments in the company, including building of the plant, constituted 25 million rubles in 2016. Renovated facilities of «SPA BioMicroGel» located in Yekaterinburg are expected to be completely loaded in the beginning of 2017.

«Our purpose now is to increase annual production of the final products by 10-12 times and ensure supplies for the contracts with the major federal retail chains and internet stores negotiations with which are on the final stage. The new manufacturing site allows us to achieve this purpose in the upcoming year,» Andrey Yelagin, CEO, said.

In March, «SPA BioMicroGel» made a decision to diversify its business and launch to the consumer market of household chemicals, a new line of the products for household under the global band «BioMicroGel» that includes 10 products: 5 products in ECO series and 5 products in PRO series. Before this time, from 2014, the company supplied bio degradable agents to the professional cleaning agencies, car washes and HORECA enterprises, but as crisis fell, the market began to decrease which became an incentive to search for alternative markets.

«The decision to move to retail chains met our expectations and made it possible to increase our own current assets. For the nine months of 2016, from April to December, amounts of our contracts grew by almost ten times. Revenue for the second six month of 2016 became almost three times greater comparing to the first six month, and in December, «BioMicroGel» doubled sales of innovation household chemicals comparing to November,» reported Andrey Yelagin. 

The compositions are based on the substance patented by the Uralians — microgel of polysaccharide from the modified pectin and cellulose with a trademark biomicrogel ^®. Adding them to the cleaning agents significantly reduces the amount of harmful components in the compositions, makes them completely biodegradable and allows excluding synthetic SAA, toxic alcohols and phosphates.

Besides the ecological household chemicals and professional cleaning agents, «SPA BioMicroGel» continues developing chemical dispersants to fight oil spills and optimizing technology of clearing industrial wastewater. TechPhos and TechCaus cleaning agents for industrial technological equipment (heat-exchange, boiler, capasitive, etc.) were developed and released to the market in partnership with the Ural-Siberian company «NEKSAN».
