GenerationS has determined the best start-ups in the Smart city track. The members of the accelerator shared the prize fund of 1 million RUB. The winner will also receive a 2 million-RUB grant from the Innovation Support Fund.

The first place was taken by the Dronex start — up team from Minsk. The developers have designed a drone capable of carrying loads of up to 3.5 kg. The devices can significantly reduce costs and time for product deliveries.

Meanwhile, thanks to the special form of the case, the drones are absolutely safe and can move about in dense urban conditions.

The winners received 500 thousand RUB and will receive an additional grant from the Foundation for the Promotion of Innovation under the Start program In April, the Dronex team will participate in the GenerationS final and will be one of eight contenders for the prize fund of 15 million rubles.

"Thanks to the GenerationS, we have managed to find lots of partners while the grant from the Fund for the Promotion of Innovation reduces the risks of investors and points to a great promise of the project. I am confident that the support of RVC and the Innovation Support Fund will open new horizons and accelerate our access to new markets," — said Dronex CEO Vladimir Davydov.

The second place was taken by the Moscow project "Right Rent" — a service that finds performers of legal, financial and personal services in the rental market. "For the second year in a row the SmartCity partner in GenerationS has been the Russian Technical Society, one of the few professional technology brokers in Russia. At the end of 2015 the partner selected more than a dozen teams to implement pilot projects. The finalists of 2016 presented a number of strong developments capable of making our cities more technological and comfortable in the near future, " — commented Gulnara Bikkulova, the Deputy Director General of the RVC and the ideologist of GenerationS.

"Every year we see GenerationS startups in the Smart city area grow in quality and quantity" In the near future, the RTS is preparing to launch the project of the Park of Urban Technologies in the Skolkovo Innovation Center, in whose residential areas the best urban solutions will be piloted. First of all, the test site will be represented by the winners and awardees of our GenerationS track, " — said the general director of the Russian Technical Society, Yuri Vasilyev.

"Today we have presented only one grant, yet I urge other participants not to get upset. Promote and refine your projects. Even if your first attempts fail, keep trying to apply for the Fund's programs. I wish everyone good luck! " — noted Sofya Irishkina, Deputy Head of the External Communications Department of the Fund for the Promotion of Innovations.

The totals of 590 applications were submitted for the GenerationS' Smart city. The multi — stage selection resulted in 12 teams which completed the business development program at the MISiS and Fiztehpark sites and got a chance to start cooperation with the GenerationS industrial partner — the Russian Technical Society. The winning teams were voted for by the jury, that consisted of experts from the Innovation Support Fund and the Russian Technical Society, private investors and representatives of the Moscow Government.
