Two start-ups from Samara reached the final of the GenerationS Preaccelerator

31 regional teams took part in the regional program of the GenerationS Preaccelerator in Samara. As a result of the presentations, the jury selected two best projects that were given the right to submit their developments to investors and partners in the federal GenerationS final in April 2018.

Projects by Anastasia Glazunova and Sergey Yemelyanov have become the winners of the regional program. Anastasia is developing a mobile test for pyroplasmosis in animals. With the help of her test, owners of domestic dogs can diagnose the disease with high degree of accuracy without visiting the laboratory, thus saving life of their beloved pet. Sergey Yemelyanov presented the development of a flat gas cylinder made of composite materials. In Russia and around the world more and more car enthusiasts replace their petrol engines with gas engines, and the equipment made by Sergey and his team is safer, lighter and takes significantly less space in the car than the conventional solutions.

Here, we see new forces, new ideas coming to light, and you immediately start testing these ideas. Moreover, the Preaccelerator is a great opportunity to get together and solve very important business issues within a short timeframe’.

Dmitry Maslennikov, an investor, an expert of the GenerationS Preaccelerator: ‘My main recommendation for Preaccelerator projects is to learn how to talk about the product simply and clearly. Tell us what the project is all about. What is the main problem of the consumer, and how are you going to solve this problem? And try to avoid unfounded slogans such as ‘give me money and tomorrow the whole world will be cured of AIDS,’ or ‘this competitor is bad, and I'm good.’ Investors are not interested in slogans; therefore, provide numbers as support for your thoughts‘.

The GenerationS Preaccelerator by RVC was first implemented in a regional format. On-site sessions are held in Yekaterinburg, Kazan, Moscow, Rostov-on-Don, St. Petersburg, Tomsk and Samara. The educational program of the Preaccelerator in Samara consists of two on-site parts, between which start-ups work together with experts and trackers remotely. In the course of the program, novice entrepreneurs take part in master classes and seminars on business modelling, hypothesis testing, methods for verifying the viability of the product - LeanStartup and CustomerDevelopment, marketing, sales and MVP creation. The teams also study the legal aspects of formalizing transactions with the investor and particulars of intellectual property rights’ protection.

Based on results of the regional Preaccelerator qualifying stage, two start-up finalists will be selected in each of the seven cities. Fourteen best teams will be able to present their developments to investors and partners at the federal GenerationS final in Moscow, which will be held in April 2018.
