ITMO University, located in St. Petersburg, has hosted the Demo Day of GenerationS Preaccelerator, the federal program to prepare early-stage start-ups. The winners will present their projects to investors at the finals of the GenerationS.
The Preaccelerator program, which took place in St. Petersburg, featured 30 tech-up teams. At the end of the pitch session, the jury identified two winners: the team of Igor Zotkin, Anton Burenkov and Nadezhda Kuznetsova with their antibiotics-free treatment of cattle mastitis and Artem Khlybov with his distributed sensor for down-hole monitoring. The participants will submit their projects to experts and investors at the federal finals of GenerationS in April.
"My goal was to get first-hand experience, to outline further steps and understand at which point we should call an investor. If you participate in the Preaccelerator, you are sure in the right direction. You learn how to promote your project, find out intricacies and subtleties of communication with investors," says Igor Zotkin, a member of the project team.
"Unfortunately, solid techup projects often fail because they lack commercial skills. The Preaccelerator allows project teams to obtain some commercial competence and have better chances for survival. This is exactly what many need ", said Vyacheslav Makovich, the speaker of the full-time program, the mentor of the full-time and distance program.
The GenerationS Preaccelerator is held for the first time in a regional format. Among the finalists of GenerationS-2017 will be 2 best projects from each regional program. The teams from Samara, Kazan and St. Petersburg have already been selected for the finals, the best companies from Tomsk, Rostov-on-Don, Yekaterinburg and Moscow will also be known in the upcoming weeks.
