Experts from the GenerationS corporate innovation development platform talk about why the demand for green technologies is growing, and businesses are striving to implement solutions from GreenTech startups.
The definition of GreenTech or “green” technologies includes all startups that are somehow connected with the environmental agenda. They can both directly create sustainable products and help improve the safety of existing projects in various industries for the environment.
In 2021, the market for green technologies and sustainable development was estimated at $11.5 billion (“green technologies” combine technological solutions that use “clean” energy from environmentally friendly sources, various monitoring systems, electric vehicles, water and air purification technologies, etc. .). This figure is expected to exceed $50 billion by 2029. World Wildlife Fund (WWF) experts noted that in Russia in 2021, attention to the environment was like never before. In particular, the law “On Limiting Greenhouse Gas Emissions” was adopted, Russia declared its readiness to achieve carbon neutrality by 2060, and the discussion of ESG issues became mandatory in business. At the same time, “green” startups are more visible on the international market than in Russia. Nevertheless, every year Russian companies are increasingly turning to GreenTech.
