GenerationS Started in Cooperation with Russian Corporations

On April 27, Moscow hosted the official launch of the federal technology start-up accelerator - GenerationS-2015.

In 2015, GenerationS is implemented as a platform for creation of corporate and industry accelerators in close cooperation with corporations. GenerationS-2015 accelerators will be held in seven branch lines (tracks) with participation of the following partners:

• Power&Energy (modern power generation technologies), partners — RusHydro Group, KES Holding, Energy without Borders Fund, and NEXT Capital track operator;

• Telecom (telecommunications), partner — Mobile TeleSystems (MTS); track operator — Higher School of Economics;

• Robotics (automated and robotic systems), partner - Sberbank Technology; track operator - Moscow Technological Institute;

• Aerospace (technology for the aerospace industry), partner — NPO Saturn; track operator — Regional Innovation Center NCP;

• SmartCity (technology for life), partner — MORTON GC; track operator — LOGA Group;

• Oil&Gas (technologies and materials in the oil and gas sector), partner — Tatneftekhiminvest Holding; track operator — Pulsar Venture Capital;

• BiotechMed (biotechnology and medicine), partners — Pharmcontract GC, Johnson&Johnson, and Sibbiopharm PA; track operator — Tomsk State University.

RVC together with the track partner corporation and operator have developed specialized programs for each track bearing in mind the sectoral focus of projects and business goals of the partner corporation. The search for projects to participate in the accelerator is done through a regional partner network of GenerationS, bringing together start-up schools, business incubators, universities, and other participants in the innovation ecosystem working with start-ups. Employees of the corporations will be directly involved in selection, assessment, and acceleration of start-ups participating in GenerationS.

GenerationS-2015 will be held in several stages:

1. Before July 1, technology projects can apply for participation in GenerationS online at www.generation-start-up.ru;

2. From July 5 to August 15, there will be a Pre-Accelerator held for all the participating projects, including online and offline programs. The online part is a series of video lectures on key topics of technological entrepreneurship. Following the online program, experts and mentors will select 200 best projects for participation in the live part of the Pre-Accelerator in Moscow. The live program includes workshops, consultations, meetings with successful entrepreneurs, industry expert sessions, and networking session. Following the live educational session, the expert jury will select up to 20 projects for each sector to continue work with the corporations;

3. From September 1 to November 20, there will be held corporate accelerators in seven GenerationS tracks. These will include a series of seminars and workshops by industry experts, visits to production facilities of the partner corporations, meetings with successful entrepreneurs and investors of the industry, work with mentors, individual advice, and practical tasks. The purpose of this stage is to help teams to finalize their product in constant interaction with a potential customer, test the business model, and prepare the project to successful entry to the market. At the end of each accelerator, there will be held a DemoDay. The projects will be presented to the investment committee and sci-tech council of the partner corporation, which will decide on further work with each graduate project of the accelerator.

4. On November 20, there will be held the GenerationS Superfinal, where a jury of representatives from the partner corporations, investors, entrepreneurs, and industry experts will select three winners of GenerationS. They will receive prizes and the opportunity to continue working with the partner corporations on introduction of their developments into production processes of the latter, present a draft before the scientific and technical council of the corporation, and sign a contract for the purchase of, or investment in development and refinement of the product.
